! Installation of NetAdvantage NET 2007 VOL 3 CLR20 fails with fatal error !

Hi all !

While installing NetAdvantage NET 2007 VOL 3 CLR20 under Microsoft WindowsXP (Service Pack2) the fatal error 

    "Installation ended prematurely because of an error"

 occured (in a modal dialog).

The Windows Event Manager reports :

" Product: Infragistics NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Vol. 3 CLR 2.0 -- Installation operation failed. "

 with error code  11708

Any advice or ideas you might have, would be very welcome. Thanks in advance !

I second this -  "Installation ended prematurely because of an error"

While installing Infragistics NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Vol. 3 CLR 2.0 on Windows Vista Business

This is a fresh install of vista, could i be missing a service pack.

in the KB search enter Vista and it will return 10 articles which may help.

PROBLEM REPAIRED

I did read the KB's on windows vista, but there was one fix i did not complete because it said it was only for version 2006, and is not required for later version, but it indeed is required for 2007.

This is the IIS 7 fix, make sure you install the IIS6 compatibility options.

I narrowed it down when installing the products individually, I could not install the ASPNET product, ended with Fatal Error aswell, when all other applications install fine.

Hi All !

The installation error I've descibed occured on WindowsXP with installed Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition (SP1).

The bug ?
It seems that the installation error is thrown because the infragistics installer does not check (correctly) the ASP.NET prerequisite of the installed Visual Studio 2005 ! In my Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition (SP1) installation I did not install any ASP.Net features, while installing the complete NetAdvantage NET 20073 CLR20 (no custom installation).

How to fix:
I've fixed the installation error by running a custom installation of NetAdvantage NET 20073 CLR20 with no selected ASP.Net features.

By the way:
In the future it would be nice, if the Infragistics installer writes a detailed installation log file for better checking the installation process
